The Order of St. Vincent Prayer

Almighty God, grant unto us, thy servants,
so to follow thy blessed martyr Vincent in all purity and constancy of living:
that bearing witness to thee upon earth,
we may attain the palm of everlasting glory,
through † Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and
the Holy Ghost, ever one God, now and for ever. Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

† Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done earth as in it in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (Amen)

(Anglican Doxology) For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen

(Roman Catholic) For the kingdom, and the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen

(Orthodox) For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
of the † Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:
now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Proper 28 (page 236 of BCP)

Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning:
Grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn,
and inwardly digest them; that, by patience and comfort of thy holy Word,
we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life,
which thou hast given us in our Savior Jesus Christ;
who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Trisagion Hymn

† Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One, Have mercy on us.

The Jesus Prayer

Lord Jesus, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Gloria Patri

† Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
(Orthodox: Both now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen)

Morning Prayers

O God, I praise thee this day.
O God, I give myself to thee this day.
O God, I ask you to help me this day. Amen.

This is the day which the Lord hast made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.
I give thanks to thee, O Lord, for thy great goodness to me,
to mine and to all mankind. Amen

O Lord Jesus Christ, savior, friend and brother, be with me this day.
Strengthen me in all it’s temptations;
give me courage and power to face its responsibilities;
inspire me to see its opportunities.
May this day be one of growth in thy fellowship. Amen

Create in me a pure heart, a clean mind,
and a steadfast will that in thought,
word and deed I may honor thee,
my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God,
who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day:
Defend us in the same with thy mighty power;
and grant this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger;
but that we, being ordered by thy governance, may do always what is righteous in thy sight;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May the almighty and merciful Lord † Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, bless us
and keep us and bring us to everlasting life. Amen

Midday Prayers

Blessed Savior, who at this hour hung upon the cross,
stretching out thy loving arms:
Grant that all the peoples of the earth may look to thee and be saved;
for thy mercies’ sake. Amen

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles,
“Peace I give to you; my own peace I leave with you:”
Regard not our sins, but the faith of thy church,
and give us the peace and unity of that heavenly City,
where thou livest and reigneth with the Father and the Holy Spirit
now and for ever. Amen

The Angelus

The Angel of the Lord announced unto Mary, and she conceived by the Holy Ghost.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee,
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee,
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.

And the Word was made Flesh and dwell among us.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee,
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

We beseech thee, O Lord, pour thy grace into our hearts:
that, as we have known the incarnation of thy Son Jesus Christ by the message of an angel,
so by his cross and passion † we may be brought unto glory of his resurrection;
through the same Christ our Lord. Amen

Regina Coeli

(during Easter season in place of the Angelus)

O Queen of heaven, be joyful, alleluia;
Because he whom so fittingly you bore, alleluia,
Has arisen as he promised, alleluia,
Pray for us to the Father, alleluia,
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia,
For the Lord is risen indeed, alleluia.

O God, who, by the resurrection of thy Son Jesus Christ, did give gladness to the world:
grant, we beseech thee, that we, being helped by the Virgin Mary, his Mother,
may attain unto the joys of everlasting life.
† Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Evening Prayers

Lord Jesus, stay with us, for evening is at hand and the day is past;
be our companion in the way, kindle our hearts, and awaken hope,
that we may know thee as thou art revealed in Scripture
and the breaking of the bread.
Grant this for the sake of thy love. Amen

Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee O Lord;
and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night;
for the love of thy only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ Amen

Be present, O merciful God, and protect us through the hours of this night,
so that we who are wearied by the changes
and chances of this life may rest in thy eternal changelessness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Look down, O Lord, from thy heavenly throne,
and illumine this night with thy celestial brightness;
that by night as by day thy people may glorify thy holy Name;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Visit this place, O Lord, and drive far from it all snares of the enemy;
let thy holy angels dwell with us to preserve us in peace;
and let thy blessing be upon us always;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

I will lay down in peace and take my rest, for it is thee,
Lord, only, that maketh me live in safety.
† Into thy hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit,
for thou hast redeemed me,
O Lord, God of all truth.

O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen,
and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and
the fever of life is over, and our work is done.
Then in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging,
and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen
